Hyperbole...

Hyperbole is sometimes used in scripture. Hyperbole is an exaggeration or extravagant statement used as a figure of speech. For example; I could sleep a year. - or - This book weighs a ton. Another example might be; Now, I told you a million times to stop doing that.

The statement in hyperbole is not meant to be true, but instead is meant to convey some meaning or thought with emphasis.
