Authority of Scriptures...

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: - 2Timothy 3:16 The word inspiration here means "God breathed". God has "breathed" out His scripture, indeed, He is the true author. Even though God used 40 different authors over a period of more than 2000 years, the Bible is truly God's book.

Scripture is given for doctrine, that is for teaching about God, so we can learn what He wants us to know. It is given for reproof, or that sin may be revealed in us and that we are in need of a Savior and of God's grace. It is given for correction, or to show us the right way. It is given for instruction in righteousness, or to enable and equip us to walk with the Lord and have a proper relationship with Him.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. - 2Timothy 2:15 God's Word is truth. If we ever are in disagreement with it, we are wrong. We need to be learning and walking in the truth.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. - Ephesians 2:10 It is God who made us and, if we know Christ as your Savior. It is He who has bought or redeemed us. We belong to Him. He has the last say in all matters, we are to submit to His authority.
